Starting in 1874, a dedicated group of artists, referred to as; “The Anonymous Society of Painters Sculptors”, etc. organized their own exhibition in Paris and thus began the movement called, Impressionism. Members included; Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Camille Pissarro and others. The canvas itself measures exactly one meter high, which tells us, that this is a European Impressionist painter and not an American. We would date our impressionist painting around 1900, give or take a little and clearly not done by an amateur.
Condition: The painting did have a minor repair done previously, but is impossible to see.
