Unique vintage English vitreous enamel garage sign advertising \"Pratt's Golden Pump Service\" in black letters on an orange field. This sign would be a great decoration in the garage, or in a rec room with a bar or pool table. Following is a bit of interesting history about Pratt's Pump Service: Anglo-American Oil Co., Ltd., Queen Anne's Gate, London, S.W. 1. The Anglo-American Oil Co. were the distributors in the United Kingdom of Pratt's aviation spirit and motor spirit (airplane and automobile fuel); also the 1-gallon and 5-gallon Pratt's \"golden\" pumps. The Pratt's \"golden\" pump, familiar to all motorists throughout the United Kingdom, is also installed at the London Terminal Aerodrome at Waddon, and a unique feature is that the spirit (fuel), after passing through the pump, is propelled through some 250 ft. of supply pipe underground to the required filling point, where it is discharged into the aeroplane tank. The reason for this is that when not in use, everything is stored underground, leaving nothing on the surface of the aerodrome. Thus a speedy supply is coupled with absolute safety to aeroplanes leaving or arriving. This sign is in good original condition. England circa 1930
