French Walnut Cupboard circa 1800

French Walnut Cupboard or Cabinet, circa 1800

French Walnut Cupboard circa 1800
Circa 1770-1810 French Walnut Armoire, or as the French would call it; a Commode Buffet Louis XV. The bottom portion is bombe, and the top has very old toile fabric inside, and we just had to leave it alone. We rarely if ever see useable fabric on the interior of an antique cupboard. Should you request, we of course could remove it, and we actually have some authentic French toile in stock that we imported many years ago. Because of the height, and sheer stature of the armoire it makes a room, and becomes the central focal point. Restored in France many years ago, and we just gave it a sympathetic restoration without disturbing any of the patination. The period of Louis XV ended in 1774, and there is a chance that this cabinet was made during his reign. We are researching this now, and will add to the copy as we gather up it's history.
