Extremely unusual matched pair of vintage French Louis XVI style buffets, that have just emerged from our Old Plank restoration department. Each Louis XVI style buffet was stripped of its worn finish, without the use of any chemicals, for each Louis XVI buffet was hand-sanded to the bare mahogany. After which, both of our matching Louis XVI style buffets were off to the finishing department, where the Louis XVI style buffets were treated to an old-world ebonized coloring process, while still allowing for the beautiful fine grain of the mahogany to show. The marble tops have never been broken, although there are water rings and dull areas and minor chips along the edge as one would expect, so at this point, if someone were looking to make the tops polished or honed, they could go in either direction quite easily. In almost 30-years of traveling to France on antique buying trips, I can count the number of times we have purchased matched pairs of Louis XVI style buffets on one hand. Both pieces of marble are weathered. There are chips, scratches, watermarks/rings and dull areas. Please pay close attention to images 7, 8, 10 and 11.
