Antique French Hunt Cabinet or French Bibliotheque. The style of this antique French white oak hunt cabinet, can be referred to as Henri II (we call it Henri deux) or Renaissance Revival and dates from the late 1800’s. Typically, when we find these heavily carved hunt cabinets, they are often located in Northern France and are finished in a very dark stain, which in turn makes them have heavy feel. Our Old Plank restoration department, did a complete 180 on the hunt cabinet and not only stripped the old dark stain from this antique hunt cabinet, but in addition bleached the oak for a more modern aesthetic. This antique French hunt cabinet is adorned with a pair of dogs, foxes, gargoyles, pheasants, rabbit and a swine. Note the integral carving for the drawer pulls. There are a few areas on the sides of this hunt cabinet, where there is some trim missing* and it can be repaired. Look carefully at the images supplied and you can see the areas in question. *Image 19 shows damage to trim carving.
