Don Oelze Native American Painting

Don Oelze Native American Painting
Don Oelze's family was from the Southwest, but their faith took them to different areas of the world. Don, born in New Zealand at an early age had a fascination with America, especially cowboys and Indians. Don started drawing Indians at a very early age, and by the time he was in grade school, he remembers getting in trouble for drawing Indians in class. When Don was eight years old, his parents moved back to the America where Don attended Memphis College of Art, finishing his education at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. While living in Seattle in 1992, he met a Native American artist named Everett. In working with Everett, Don did his first native American painting. After experimenting with various subjects, he knew that painting Native American’s was what he loved most.
