Antique French Eglomise Flower Mirror

Antique French Eglomise Flower Mirror in Gilded Oval Frame, Cracked

Antique French Eglomise Flower Mirror
Verre Églomisé, the French term for the process of applying both a design and gilding onto the backside of glass. The comes from the 1700’s French designer, Jean-Baptiste Glomy (1711–1786). The back-painting glass, actually dates to the 1400’s and was used in jewelry making. Our French eglomise, bow front flower painting, has unfortunately suffered 2 large cracks, which did not stop us from hanging it at home, for the last 20 years. Beautiful original water gilded frame, which could make for a wonderful oval mirror, should you opt out of the cracked painting?
