Antique Shaker Cherry Wood Trestle Dining Table

Antique Shaker Cherry Wood Trestle Dining Table, circa 1830

Antique Shaker Cherry Wood Trestle Dining Table
This Shaker trestle dining table, is thought to be from the Hancock, Massachusetts community of Shakers, circa 1830. There is a nearly identical table at the Mount Lebanon Shaker Museum. The Shaker trestle dining table is constructed of solid cherrywood and is in remarkable condition. Other than several coats of a natural beeswax, we have done no restoration work on this Shaker dining table. Typically, meals in the Shaker Community, were short and generally without much conversation and very few authentic Shaker dining tables exist to this day. Long Shaker tables, supported by central columns are very typical of the Shaker Style and this particular Shaker dining table came from the Adelaide De Menil and Edmund Carpenter collection.
