French Louis XV style armoire, that has lived a very sheltered life for the last 200-years, in the southwest city of Toulouse, France. Finding an unrestored, two century old piece of French furniture, that has escaped the hands of amateur restorers is not always an easy task. From what we can detect, is that this French Louis XV armoire, has remained largely in its original unrestored state for the past 200-years. Our Old Plank workshop was given specific directions, to conserve the antique French armoire and not to restore the armoire. The patina and rich color that old only solid cherrywood gets, is impossible to duplicate in a workshop and we know, for we have been trying for almost 30-years with little success. Our Old Plank craftsmen carefully disassembled the armoire, by removing all the original wooden pegs and went through every connection, so that it’ll be sound for generations to come. The exterior of the armoire was given a couple coats of a natural beeswax. The most interesting thing about this antique armoire is, the longer you stand there looking at it, the more you begin to love and appreciate all the finite details that make it truly unique.
