When was the last time you saw a set of 12 painted Louis XVI chairs? Although originally finished in an off-white, some of the chairs had yellowed over time and rather than try to match the whites, we restored the finish on all twelve. Then our upholstery department stripped off the tired fabric, installed hand-cut corner blocks for each seat bottom for extra strength. Next, we installed new webbing, horse and hog hair for the seat bottoms and shredded coconut for the seats backs (as per original French specs). Lastly, the Old Plank finishing department dyed the new leather in our proprietary azure blue, which contrasts beautifully with the distressed white frames. Should the blue not be to your liking, we have other sets (both 6 & 8) of Louis XVI chairs available through 1stdibs, that are waiting for restoration. Please look very carefully and you will see some minor inconsistencies between the chairs, so I am sure they added on to the original set over the years, but the dimensions and details are incredibly close. **Seat height is 20"
