Another of our many Jansen inspired Louis XVI vintage French buffets that our in house workshop thoroughly restored. We begin the process by hand scraping the existing finish (no chemicals used) before the sanding begins. Next we inspect for any necessary repairs and there are always loose legs and wonky drawers that no longer glide as smoothly as intended. After which we begin the laborious task of applying a variety of stains to create that warm 19th century ebonized finish that everyone is seeking today, where the warm brown tones of the mahogany show through the black. Lastly the hardware is cleaned up and reinstalled.
