Having come from a family of Porsche dealers since the 1950’s, you will see us occasionally offer something European and no better way to start out than this spectacular 1973 Porsche 911 S Targa, one of only 923 ever produced in 73. The model year 1973 saw Porsche increase the engine to a 2341 cc displacement, known as the “2.4 L” with Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI). With the power and torque increases, the 2.4 L cars also got a new, stronger 915 transmission and only the 911S models gained a discreet spoiler under the front bumper for improved high-speed stability. Weighing a mere 2315 pounds, these are often regarded as the best of the Classic mainstream 911’s to drive. They are visually distinguished by a switch from chrome to a black finish for much of the exterior trim, including the Horn and rear engine lid grille. This particular 911S has the competition-oriented extremely rare M409 Sport Seat option, coupled with even rarer yet, “Leather to Sample” upholstery. Having spent most of its life in Huntington Beach, California (until 2005) and had only 126,000 miles, before a ground up restoration took place. The Certificate of Authenticity shows all matching numbers. The body was rust-free and had a proper two-year, complete disassemble paint job in the factory correct silver metallic, complimented by a dark green leather interior, done by the renown Tony Garcia of Autobahn Interiors, accented with “houndstooth” seat inserts. You probably have heard the expression; so clean you could eat your breakfast off it, well in this case, it also applies to the bottom of the car. The 2.4L engine was completely rebuilt and now runs and performs as new. For Porsche 1973 marked the final year of the short wheelbase 911 and results in the most highly sought after vintage. I have extensive mechanical details on the engine rebuild and will forward to serious clients. VIN = 9113310214 Eng.# = 6330471 Trans# = 332271.
