Every once in a while we find a great pair of old French doors, but never in our history have we discovered a treasure trove of eight painted doors from the late 1700’s. Actually there are four pairs of hand-carved solid wood doors with no plaster reliefs. These were removed from a castle near the city of Clermont-Ferrand in France’s Auvergne region. The real kicker is the old paint and you can see layer upon layer of that incredible French putty grey that they are so famous for. Please note that the sizes vary slightly and we certainly can trim them to exactly the size dimension for you. There is also a pair of Directoire doors from the same castle that we will be featuring on 1stdibs as well in the coming weeks.
