The story behind the Life Size Sheep -
While Robin and I were taking a leisurely walk through the Paris Flea Market, a very long time ago; sitting there before us, near the entrance to the Puce, was a genuine Lalanne sheep, priced at about $5000, it was way out of our budget, for we were just married. After all, who could have predicted what a Francois-Xavier Lalanne sheep would bring decades later.
That Lalanne sheep became a pivotal moment in our lives, for ever since that initial sighting, my wife has been on a personal quest to obtain a Lalanne sheep. Unfortunately, their values rose faster than our incomes. So, for decades, we have been searching for a sheep in the style of Lalanne Sheep, that looked right from top to bottom. However, there was always something askew, out of proportion, or just an intangible that you could not put your finger on, but in your hearts of hearts, you knew it was the wrong one and the search continued for decades. This particular Lalanne style sheep, was finally one that hit all the correct marks, scale, facial expression, proportions and price. The one pictured here is made from solid bronze and has a dark patina applied to the bronze. The real fur is available both in black or white and it is referred to as a head down version and there is also a grazing one as well being offered.
