Turn-of-the-century English, or possibly French Chesterfield tufted sofa. First we removed the bottom webbing and cambric, then re-tied every copper spring 8-ways by hand, installed new webbing, cambric and added horsehair where required. The leather is all original to the sofa and remains extremely supple especially considering its age. There is just nothing quite like the look and feel of old worn leather, sort of like your favorite leather shoe or jacket that only get better with time. The only cosmetic repairs required on the exterior were the replacement of a few tufted buttons, but in order to keep it correct, we snipped some of the old leather off the bottom return under the sofa so everything would match. This is about as nice a condition was you could ever expect an old leather to be, without going through a cosmetic restoration. We also have a pair of 100 year old Chesterfield chairs in stock. **Seat height is 18.5"
