Starting in 2016, we embarked on manufacturing indoor bronze sheep with real fur in the style of Claude Lalanne. To say that was a success is probably an understatement. Customers continued to ask, want and demand a sheep for their garden, yards and other outdoor applications.
We are proud to announce our first outdoor sheep (see pictures). Made with a true bronze cast for the legs, ears and face; there is nothing close to this unbelievable outdoor sculpture. The body is manufactured from a silicone mold and has the look of a real sheep but can weather the elements of being outside.
Here is the history of the Lalanne Sheep -
A very long time ago, my wife Robin and I were walking through a Flea Market at the outskirts of Paris and standing right on the sidewalk of rue des Rosiers was a life size sheep, made by the famous French Sculptor, Xavier Lalanne for the equivalent of small automobile and without any hesitation, I told my wife to forget it. For whom was I to predict that what a Xavier Lalanne sheep would bring years later (made the same mistake with some cars, but much more serious). Ever since then, I have been seeking an affordable alternative, but there was always something out of scale, or just plain weird about them.
The sheep you see here is hand-made in America, by an artist and has the greatest face and wonderful proportions. Virtually impossible not fall immediately in love. Constructed in solid bronze.
The lead time on the outdoor sheep is roughly 10 weeks at this point. Each sheep is hand made for each individual customer.
