Typically, when we find similar Louis XVI buffets they are almost always mahogany and I cannot remember the last one that wasn’t, until now. This is an incredible French walnut buffet with the most amazing grain patterns, so we took the long way to refinish it. Our Old Plank finishing department hand sanded off several old coats of finish and started the laborious task of applying numerous layers of an old fashion French polish. Some of us in the trade refer to this as candy. Structurally the cabinet was restored and everything operates as it was intended.
