Ch.Jeanselme & C° PARIS was a supplier of furniture to the French and Imperial Courts of France. Opened in 1824 as Jeanselme Freres, with the stamp changing to 'Ch. Jeanselme et Cie 'in 1883 and was used until 1930. We purchased this buffet, along with a huge matching china cabinet, set of 12 cane chairs and a 15' table as a complete dining suite. What struck us funny was the condition, for we never receive an item that does not require some sort of restoration, but this piece broke the rule. Other than a light cleaning and a coat of wax, there was absolutely nothing else required. The buffet is made from figured French walnut and has never been refinished. Marble top is original and has never been broken or repaired, as so many have. The makers mark as you can see is still attached to the drawer. Jeanselme furniture sells at Christie's Auction House and other high end venues.
