Every once in a great moon, you get to purchase something so special that it simply knocks your sox off and years ago this was not an uncommon occurrence, but sadly it has become quite the rarity. Well this Empire style bookcase, or as the French would prefer, a bibliotheque is spectacular and because it is so unique we have taken over three months to carefully disassemble and rebuild every joint, yet at the same time make it appear as though it was never touched. We were especially sensitive to maintaining the warm sun bleached tones of the French walnut that only Mother Nature could create, for they are virtually impossible to duplicate. For the final finish and in order to enhance the incredible grain of the walnut, our expert finishers hand applied layers upon layers of an old school French polish. The piece de resistance is the grey Saint Anne marble dividing the top and bottom sections. Clearly when this bookcase was fabricated approximately 150 years ago, cost was not an issue and I only imagine what the chateau must have looked like.
