Pair Antique American Theorem Watercolors

Pair Antique American Theorem Watercolors in Vintage Frames

Pair Antique American Theorem Watercolors
Wonderful pair of antique American School Theorems re-framed by Marshall Fields and Company in the early 1950's. Hand-painted on silk, a theorem is made using layers of stencils on top of a medium such as silk, velvet, or parchment. With Asian influences, this pair of bamboo and crane decorated bowls on stands holding a selection of fruits is a traditional yet ageless subject . This pair was beautifully and expertly re-framed by Marshall Fields sometime during the 1950's (one retains its original sticker). What we don't know is if these were in fact acquired antiques that were framed and sold through Field's Antiques Department or if the original owner had them re-framed. USA late 19th Century
