Superb antique French Louis Philippe 5 hand-dovetailed drawer commode in fully restored condition. This phenomenal chest has a stunning book-matched burled walnut front, figured walnut sides and a secret hidden apron drawer. The marble top, though not original, is sensational and contrasts wonderfully with the wood. Commodes such as this, usually used as bedroom pieces, are sometimes used in entry halls, foyers and living rooms, due to their stunning beauty and high quality workmanship. France circa 1875.

Antique French Rococo Walnut Armoire with Mirrors

This exquisite antique French Rococo or Louis XV style walnut armoire exhibits great style, scale, and superior craftsmanship. The original silvering on the back of the mirrors could be removed (leaving original clear beveled glass) converting this armoire to a bibliotheque or china cabinet rather easily. These armoires were built during a period of affluence when people were building large, two story homes so they were made to break down easily – a definite asset today for people with steep staircases and narrow hallways.This spectacular example is in very nice, fully restored condition and offers great carvings, original beveled mirrors, and outstanding wood. The interior has adjustable shelves, two drawers and, for added security and storage, there is a full width drawer hidden within the apron (so hidden in fact that even our phenomenal photographer missed it). France circa 1880.
