Impressive and extravagant vintage '40s dining/game table made from a mix of French hardwoods including walnut, mahogany and flame mahogany. The book-matched 1.5" thick marble top is banded and has undergone extensive restoration including resetting on concrete board; the marble insert, however, shown below, is not a repair, the marble was constructed this way originally.  The pedestal base has four beautifully hand-carved panels, with stylized trees, ship and squirrel. This table exhibits many Art Deco influences and was probably made for an exposition, a signature has yet to be found. There are chairs and two matching buffets available. France, circa 1940
