Impressive and extravagant vintage '40s buffet made from a mix of French hardwoods including walnut, mahogany and flame mahogany. The book-matched marble top is banded and raised and is inset in the overhung mahogany top which has a vertical 3-bead astragal molding. The two central doors, which are flanked by curved and scooped side doors, display a beautifully carved pastoral scene of the shepheard with his muse. Behind the doors can be seen an exquisite finished interior with banded shelves.  The whole piece rests on carved plinth with flared base decorated with flowing fabric entwining wheat, foliage and flowers. This buffet exhibits many Art Deco influences and was probably made for an exposition, a signature has yet to be found. Another buffet, table and set of six chairs are also available.
