Original Antique Italian Aubusson Bench

Exquisite polychrome painted bench with it's original Aubusson upholstery. Scrolled and shaped side rails with volute detail feature the original verdigris and off-white paint, which continue to the lower frame. The seat rail has a carved, interlacing scroll motif, centered at the front by a tassel detail. The piece rests on carved cabriole legs. Floral bouquet and spray patterns on the Aubusson upholstery are of exquisite detail and quality. Circa 1730, Italy. NOTE: Founded in France near the province of Marche, the Aubusson factory is recognized for its wonderful textiles and dates back to the 15th century.
