Antique French Mirror with Gilded Frame

Sugared antique French mirror with gilded wood and gesso decorated frame. Sugared mirrors are so called because when a mirror reaches a certain age and the air molecules have interacted with the original mercury or silvering, the mirror becomes sparklie or sugared. The end result is a beautiful, original antique mirror with an added sparkle within the glass. It is in nice original condition with old repairs throughout the frame as would be expected with a mirror of this age. France circa 1850
