Vintage American Chapman Whittpet Desk Lamp

Wonderful vintage American "Chapman" Whippet lamp in nice original conditionon. The lamp base, which is made of brass and ebonized wood with gilt details, has a very inventive design featuring a whippet with crossed front paws lying on a plinth which is stacked on 3 books. The lamp retains its original finial and black parchment shade with gold tortoise lining. The shade is a little worn on the back and there are some scuffs on the base along with light patination on the dog - see detailed photos. The measurements include the shade. The base is 8" long x 4.75" deep. The height shown includes the finial which is 4". USA circa 1973
