Antique Chinese clothes cabinet from Shanxi Province in the northern part of the People's Republic of China. The name Shanxi literally means "mountains west", which refers to the province's location west of the Taihang Mountains. This cabinet is made from elmwood with a japanned finish and is complete with 6 hand-dovetailed drawers. It is in very good condition, structurally sound and functions perfectly. It was purchased 5 years ago at the Golden Triangle in Chicago. China circa 1780
