A Louis Philippe gentleman’s press in beautifully figured mahogany. The shaped and overhung cornice surmounts two doors featuring book-end veneering and inlaid maple escutcheons. Graduated drawers with brass drop pulls and rose wreath escutcheons rest under a black stone top. The piece has a raised plinth with block feet. The fine veneer work and sturdy original dovetailed drawers enhance the wonderful craftsmanship of the piece. Circa 1840, France.
